ANTARATMA SADHANA

MEDITATION WORKSHOPS & EDUCATION

INTENTION

ANTARATMA SADHANA IS A NOT FOR PROFIT ORGANISATION THAT OPERATES IN AMSTERDAM AND LONDON, PROVIDING CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS TO HELP PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE LEARN THE ART OF YOGIC, OR VEDIC MEDITATION, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS RAJA YOGA.

THE CLASSES OFFERED FOLLOW THE TEACHINGS OF THE YOGA SUTRAS AND PROMOTE A HOLISTIC unDERSTANDING OF THE CLASSICAL, '8 LIMBED' SYSTEM OF MEDITATION AND SELF REALISATION.

OUR FOCUS IS THE TRADITIONAL, MEDITATIVE ASPECT OF YOGA, RATHER THAN THE PHYSICAL WORK (ASANA) MORE OFTEN ASSOCIATED WITH YOGA STUDY IN THE WEST.

CLASSES ARE INTENDED TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO MANIFEST FREEDOM, PEACE AND HAPPINESS IN THEIR LIVES AND TO EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF MEDITATION THROUGH SELF REALISATION.

ANTARATMA SADHANA COMBINES ASPECTS OF RAJA AND BHAKTI YOGA, CLASSES ARE DESIGNED TO ENABLE STUDENTS TO UNDERTAKE THEIR OWN MEDITATIVE PRACTICE IN A WAY THAT IS BEST SUITED TO EACH INDIVIDUAL'S PREFERENCE.

CLASSES ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE AS A SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY WHERE POSSIBLE, HOWEVER DEPENDING ON THE VENUE EACH WOKRSHOP IS HELD AT, A SMALL CHARGE MAY APPLY.

THE PRIMARY INTENTION OF OUR CLASSES IS TO IMPART to STUDENTs AN UNDERSTANDING OF 3 KEY ASPECTS OF THE PRACTICE OF RAJA YOGA WHICH ARE:

DHARANA

Dharana is a technique of holding concentration via a meditative state to bring about stillness of the mind.

DHYANA

Dhyana is the primary meditative state of inner immersion practiced in order to elevate consciousness.

SAMADHI

Samadhi is the pinacle state of meditation that arises naturally from the combined practice of Dharana and Dhyana and the remaining aspects of the 8 limbed system.

10 WEEK WORKSHOP

Antaratma Sadhana's primary course offering is our introductory, 10 week workshop on Vedic meditation, 'Opening The Third Eye'. Opening The Third Eye provides students with a deep insight into the techniques used to activate and build awareness of, the Vedic energy system made up of the Chakras and Nadis, and the energy that permeates these structures, Prana.

This awareness exists as the foundation of Raja Yoga meditation, and the course work builds upon this to provide students with a deeply effective set of tools to activate, open and energise the third eye, or Ajna Chakra. The techniques taught are drawn entirely from classical, Vedic (Sanksrit) teachings developed in antiquity in India.

Following the activation of the third eye energy centre, a range of complementary techniques are taught to students to empower them to harness the power and beauty of the energy system through the creation and control of Prana, the fundamental energy of the universe that permeates reality and all the living things that exist within it.

In the final stage of the workshop, a range of techniques from the Bhakti, or devotional school of classical meditation are combined with Chakra meditation techniques to empower students to transcend the individual identity or self with the aim of reaching a state of union with the universal divine consciousness.

THE VEDIC ENERGY SYSTEM

Opening The Third Eye (OTTE) begins by providing students access to a range of techniques to build awareness of and control over the component parts of the energy system that is the foundation of Vedic meditation practice. This system and the techniques used to activate it have been developed over thousand of years by generations of Indian sages as a means to accelerate the spiritual development of meditation practitioners.  The system consists of 2 types or classes of structures; Chakras and Nadis.

CHAKRAS

The 7 major, or primary Chakras, exist as activation points for the universal spiritual energy that is Prana, and they are used throughout OTTE as tools to magnify and accentuate students awareness of and ability to work with Prana and the energy system as a whole.

NADIS

Nadis are the channels through which Prana flows within the body and the interconnecting web of Nadis that exists throughout the human body facilitates the activity of the Chakras and the transmission of energy between them.

THE THIRD EYE CHAKRA

The key to accessing and activating the energy system and its component parts (Chakras and Nadis) is the Third Eye, and success in meditation practice is often dependant upon  opening, activating and energising it.

Learning to activate this remarkable energy structure is at the core of the system of meditation taught in the OTTE workshop, and a range of  techniques are taught to help facilitate its activation and thereafter, its operation as a tool to sense and access the whole of the energy system.

CHAKRA ACTIVATION

Students gain access to a range of deeply effective techniques to activate, sense and work with a number of the major, and minor Chakras and these techniques are then built upon to facilitate the final goal of transcending the individual self through higher consciousness.

COMPLEMENTS

A range of complementary techniques to support  student's capability to work with the Chakras are contained in the workshop curriculum, including Pranayama, Mantra and Pradihana. These teachings are, like much of the remainder of the course work, taken from the Yoga Sutras and other classical Tantric texts.

UNION WITH THE DIVINE

The word Yoga translates from Sanskrit as 'union' and refers to the unification of the individual self with the universal divine consciousness.

The state of higher awareness within which this unification begins is 'Samadhi' and achieving this state of awareness the ultimate aim of the teachings contained in the OTTE workshop. Samadhi is achieved through the combined application of the techniques taught throughout the course, particularly Dharana and Dhyana (see above for definitions)

BHAKTI YOGA

During the final stages of the workshop, students gain access to techniques drawn from the Bhakti, or devotional school of classical Yoga. 'Bhakti' translated means 'devotion', and the techniques taught empower students to achieve Samadhi through devotional (Bhakti) union (Yoga) in meditation.

LOVE

The function and purpose of Bhakti meditation is to immerse one's self in a state of loving devotion during meditation and the experience of sublimated love energy in a state of devotion is the final goal of the OTTE workshop.
